PALM SPRINGS GETAWAY

Woohoo, it’s Friday!! So very excited for this weekend and to write this post. One of my favorite things about living in SoCal is that we are so close to so many fab destinations. We can be to the craziness that is LA in hour, to the beachy relaxation that is San Diego in hour, to the quant chicness that is Santa Barbara in a few hours and then of course, to the old school glam that is Palm Springs (my fave little getaway) in an hour. I adore the retro feeling of the desert and the fact that you just immediately feel like you are on vacation when you are there. Every neighborhood is well manicured and palm trees perfectly line every street. It’s pure Californian bliss.

When I go on any trip, I pack for my destination. With Palm Springs, you have to go with bright whites, big sunnies and of course some pops of color. This eyelet crop top and shorts from Clayton just screamed weekend in the des to me. I love the pieces together and also love that I will be able to wear them separately this Summer. These totally oversized and completely retro sunnies from Jonathan Adler (whose entire line of sunglasses is so fun btw) were the perfect option for this look.

For a fun POC, I went with my bright blue Balenciaga. You can never go wrong with blue and white when you are trying to create a vacay ready look. For shoes, I kept it neutral with my stacked heels from Raye. And for another little pop, I added on my turquoise adorned cuff from Natalie B.

When we go to the desert, my most favorite place to stay is the Ritz Carlton, Rancho Mirage. It’s beyond chic and dreamy! The pool and outdoor bar area are fab, the spa is dreamy and the staff is just always so kind.

A close second to that is of course the Parker. I love love it as well, but it’s just a different vibe. Definitely more of an authentic experience of PS and it is home to Norma’s (the most yum brunch ever).

For dinner, I highly suggest hitting up Wolfgang Puck Kitchen and Bar for a couple of margaritas and the most delicious pesto & burrata pizza you will ever have. For some major entertainment, post dinner hit up Peabody’s karaoke bar. These people are die hard and honestly should be on American Idol. My husband and I made the mistake of thinking we might get out there and break into song, but were quickly shot down by the amazing talent. So fun and fascinating! And one quick must see is definitely the original Trina Turk (891 N. Canyon Drive) store. Obviously her style is so Palm Springs, so this store has so much character.

Here are some pieces I would pack for a weekend in the des:

1. Beach People Towel  2. Tularosa Dress 3. Spitfire Sunnies

4. Marysia Bikini  5.Trina Turk Jumpsuit 6. Lovers & Friends Dress

7. Soft Joie Dress  8. Pitusa Coverup  9. Mara Hoffman Suit

10. Eliza Gran Bag   11. Capri Sandal   12. Michael Stars Hat

And just like that, I am off into the weekend! I hope you all enjoy yours! Thanks for reading.
