CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF CAPITOL (THE MOST END ALL BE ALL STORE)

Hi guys! Today’s post is very special to me as it is all about Capitol, the most fabulous boutique ever, located in Charlotte, North Carolina (where my parents live!) Today they have launched a line of pieces with various designers honoring their 20 years. I was lucky enough to be part of this as they sent me this super fun Maison Labiche sweatshirt that is perfectly engraved with the North Carolina state motto “esse quam videri” to style. When I went to style it, I tried to bring my California love to North Carolina by pairing it with my go-to GRLFRND jean skirt + pink star Golden Goose sneaks. Just to make it even more fun, we shot pictures of it at In-n-Out (because what is more CA than that?!)

Aside from being honored to be part of this celebration, I wanted to write a post to share why I love Capitol so much and why it is so exciting that they are marking 20 years. To start, my mom has been shopping there for many years and I am lucky enough to have gotten some beyond amazing pieces from there (that I cherish). I honestly feel like they have been part of my fashion journey as they are huge supporters of “one of a kind” pieces, something I always try to think about when I am buying clothes, shoes and bags. You will always find things that you will definitely not see in department stores. This push for unique style vs. the norm is something I am so so energized by!

I have gained so much inspiration from the owner, Laura Vinroot Poole (and she is 100% why the store has been able to thrive for so long). She is the epitome of casually cool (meaning she doesn’t even try, its just effortlessly who she is). What other boutique do you know that has been open 20 years?! Really though! She first opened in a small space in Philips Place and from the start made her stamp by offering a completely unique buy and an unparalleled level of service. From the beginning the store was stocked with pieces that you would definitely not find anywhere else (which I love!) Some of my most prized handbags, shoes and jewelry are from Capitol. Pieces that I have never seen anyone else with and therefore hold such a special place in my heart.

Due to her fabulous success, Laura was able to move the store to a bigger space and the new store is what you call HEAVEN. Two stories of nonstop gorgeous and fabulous finds not to mention this insane vertical garden wall created by famed French botanist Patrick Blanc (see the pictures below) that you have to see to believe. Shopping to me is a total mood lifter and the experience I have when I am at Capitol is literally a high! Everywhere you turn is another something that you just gasp over. From magical Oscar de la Renta gowns to flowy Erdem frocks to modern chic sportswear from Gucci, it’s all next level amazingness. Plus, everyone who works there is just KIND. Making you feel at home and just so comfortable (which I am sorry is not true for most high end boutiques).

Basically if you can’t tell, I am obssesed with the store and am just so so happy for Laura and her amazing team. The best part about Laura is that she is completely humble, down to earth and real! She does not try to be anyone but herself and I honestly believe that is why the store has been in existence for so long. The fashion world is hard, I even see it on my silly blogger level. Everyone copies everyone, everyone tries to be someone else….when in reality the best thing you can do is BE YOU. And she does that and clearly it has paid off.

I am so excited because I am going to  Charlotte in a couple of weeks to celebrate Laura and Capitol! They are hosting a weekend of nonstop fun and I cannot wait to cheers to them all weekend long. You have to check out the rest of the pieces in the capsule for the 20 year celebration (click here) as they are so fun. And here is the link to get my fun sweatshirt (it is so comfy cozy!)

Here are some pics of the store gorgeousness:

Here are all the pieces in my outfit!

Have a great day friends! xo, Caro
