Fashion loving friends, it’s that amazing time when Shopbop has their spend more, save more sale! AKA my fave time to shop, shop, shop. And also the time when basically all my outfits are discounted.
First, most of my looks from NYFW are part of this sale, which is so fun. And a ton of my most recent outfits that are Fall friendly too! Here is a round up of all those.
My Recent Outfits That Are Included In The Sale
Also, we all know I am Anine Bing OBSESSED as I wear her stuff all the time. Each of the below pieces from her are included and are in my opinion, 100% closet must haves. I promise you if you get one of her tees or sweatshirts, you will a) not take it off and b) not regret it. And the leopard print slip dress I wore in NYC is legit amazing. So comfy, doesn’t wrinkle and can be worn so many ways (Ideas: throw a tee or sweatshirt over it to make it a skirt, wear it with sneaks and a jean jacket or dress it up with a leather jacket and black heels)
All My Sale Must Haves
I have already gotten into trouble myself….it’s just so fab that you can get RIGHT NOW pieces for a discount. Get on it!
Hiii friends!! We got back from NYC almost a week ago, I have been nonstop since. I am finally sitting at my computer and cannot wait to share all the details with you guys. If you have read my blog for awhile, you know I LIVE for fashion week. The energy and the vibe in the city never disappoints and this year definitely filled my fashion loving soul to the brim!
My NYFW 2019 Recap
Just like the previous two years, I was most excited about the shows. When I hear other bloggers say they “dont care” about the shows or don’t want to attend them, I cannot understand. First, that is the whole point of “fashion week”! Second, to me, it’s the most amazing and inspiring thing to be able to see the trends and pieces of the upcoming season. And also, all the real fashion happens at the shows. Magazine editors, fashion PR execs, boutique owners, department store buyers and high fashion bloggers all attend the shows and let me tell you, their style is AMAZING. Or atleast to me it is and I am next level inspired by all that. I was lucky enough to attend the Ulla Johnson show, the Rebecca Minkoff presentation, the Tanya Taylor presentation and the Lela Rose show.
Other than the shows, I was so excited to also meet with a couple of my favorite brands and companies and I got to do that on Friday. I have a long standing relationship with Shopbop and I got to meet with them on Friday morning. Well before my blogging days, I was an avid shopper on their site, so I highly value them and my ongoing partnership with them. I also visited a couple of showrooms that afternoon (Kendra Scott and Marc Fischer), which was so fun because they were showing pieces that are current and some that will come Spring 2020. I wore this comfy long sleeve crop top and this tiered midi skirt (obsessed!) and some Golden Goose sneaks. I ADORE this skirt. Total Fall must have!
That night Colby and I ate dinner at Catch, which we loved! I was actually hesistant about it because it’s so trendy, but it ended up being my favorite meal of the trip! We had the mahi mahi tacos, shrimp cocktail, spicy jalapeno roll and japanese miyazaki waygu, salmon and for dessert these amazing donuts! Omg, so yum. After dinner, we met up with some of my favorite blogger girls for drinks at the Standard Hotel (a NYC must!) I wore this favorite lace top, a sequin mini skirt and some slouchy boots. I have gotten so much wear out of both this top and skirt! Highly recommend each.
Saturday started with the Ulla Johnson show (which was my favorite of all I attended). Ulla Johnson is one of my go-to higher end brands (I am forever lusting after their all their boho chic pieces). The show was perfectly them with a band playing live and a funky, cool girl vibe. It was the perfect mix of girly and wearable plus the colors were AMAZING. I legit wanted everything that came down the runaway! Lots of lavender and softer tones mixed with metallics, which I love! I failed at taking pictures, but did take a ton of videos which are saved in the “NYFW 2019” highlight on my Insta profile.
I hopped in an uber from there and attended the Rebecca Minkoff presentation. If you haven’t been to fashion week or watched coverage, a presentation is more casual as models stand around in looks + pieces from a designer (vs. a show where you sit in an assigned seat and the models walk indiviually). Her presentation was also filled with fabulous colors, but also more metallics and richer tones. My faves were a cute jumpsuit, a fab leopard bag and a pleated silver midi skirt. I wore this amazing leopard print slip dress (ugh, love love love it!), a cream blazer and my current favorite white boots. Kind of want to wear this look everyday as its comfy, but finished and just so fun!
That afternoon, I dragged Colby to the new Hudson Yardswhich is this rad new shopping area. It’s super modern and fresh and definitely worth a trip if you are a shopper! They have a Neiman Marcus, Forty Five Ten, AG Jeans, Chanel, Dior…so many more, it really is fab. I went in search of a new Chanel bag as I recently sold one of mine I didnt use, but did not see one I couldn’t resist! I feel like when you are shopping for something, you can never find it. It’s when you are trying not to shop or aren’t looking that you do.
We quickly freshened up and headed to the Women’s Wear Daily party which was being held at a We Work near the Flatiron building. We haad some drinks, mingled with some friends and then headed to our OG favorite, Nobu 57 for a late dinner. Every time we visit NYC, we go to this Nobu. It’s on the Upper East Side and just a total NY experience and yum too. That night I wore this AMAZING Retrofete sequin mini. The color is so fab and the blousant sleeves makes me so happy! I cannot wait to wear it again. I color coordinated Colby (always!) by making him wear this rad pink Topman suit (such a good color and fit!)
On Sunday, I woke up and headed to the Tanya Taylor presentation. It was such a FUN mix of colors and the vibe was totally California beachy chic (which obvie I adore!) Prints, brights and so many good pieces. I went monochromatic with this pink blazer and pink sequin dress (so extra for 11am, but I was feeling it!) and my all time favorite leopard Saint Laurent bag from last season.
After that, I picked up Colby in an uber and we headed to Bergdorfs for a little shopping and lunch at the BG Restaurant (their lobster salad is to die for). It was an insanely gorgeous day out, so we walked over to Central Park (where we got engaged!) and sat and people watched (literally heaven as there is such a variety of people!)
That night we were SO typical Caroline + Colby as we ate dinner at Hillstone. If you know us or follow me on Instagram, you know we are OBSESSED with any and all Hillstone Group restaurants. We go to atleast one of them here in OC every weekend because they are all just SO good. Trust me on this and go if you have never been! Some faves: the kale salad with peanut dressing, ahi tuna tartare, salmon (I get a side cesar instead of veggies), artichokes (only in season sometimes), colby loves the Hawaiian ribeye and Dings chicken sandwich. Ugh, now I am craving it!
Monday came quick and I was off to the Lela Rose show, which was held outside overlooking the Hudson River. You guys! It was GORGEOUS. The theme was Cafe Lela and there was a yellow rose petal adorned runway and everyone sat at these cute little tables that looked like something off the streets of Paris. I was freaking out at the details and the setup. Plus, I was seated next to Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush (from the Today show) and I adore them. The show itself was so feminine and girly and just whimsical. I love loved it!
Colby met me there and we ate lunch in this new area built around the 9/11 memorial. They have done such an amazing job rebuilding that whole area and just making it fresh and fun. We visited the memorial, which is both beautiful and gut wrenching. Colby made me trek over to Wall Street and visit the Stock Market…I played good wife, but let’s just that was not the highlight of my trip!
We did ABC Kitchen that night and it was super yummy! The atmosphere is so vibrant there and toasted with a bottle of Veuve, which was a great way to end our trip! I wanted to end the trip wearing something fabulous, so I wore this sequin maxi….um, yea, this dress is a total dream! I love the sheer bottom and sleeves- so so fun.
A few takeways from the trip: first, and foremost, DO YOU and do what makes YOU happy! I say this because it’s so easy to get caught up in the scene and what everyone else is doing. In my job and all jobs in general. Believe in yourself and always listen to your gut. Before the trip, I started to second guess if I was good enough, had enough followers etc. to go this year. I hate I wasted time on those thoughts as once I got to the city, I was reminded immediately why I was there. I was there because I LOVE FASHION and it’s ignites my soul!
Second, I feel so so lucky to have a husband that wants to travel with me on a trip like this that he knows is so big time to me. He is so sweet and supportive and we just had the best time (as always). I have to say this year was much more mellow than previous years in the realm of me doing the blogger scene stuff. Part of me thinks I could’ve been more social, but the other part of me LOVES that I experienced with my hubby who I know will be in my life in 30 years.
To me, fashion week is about the fashion (which I saw a ton of), and secondly about playing in NYC, a city that means so much to both Colby and I. When we headed home on Tuesday morning (I included my cozy travel look below), I felt fulfilled and happy and just sooo excited to get home and style up some new looks. The inspiration part of it all is next level!
