Keeping Your Boyfriend Jeans Feminine

Oh, the boyfriend jean. They are everywhere, right? For so long I fully boycotted this style, as I just do not find it flattering.  That being said, recently designers have begun to sway me with much more tailored, fitted styles. I forced myself to try a couple of pairs after seeing other girls in them and thinking they actually looked super cute.

I found these by Lovers & Friends (on sale for $81!) on revolveclothing.com (surprise, surprise, right?). I love that they are super tapered at the bottom (which lets you show some ankle aka femininity). I am all about distressing lately (the more the better really), so I loved that these had that going on too.

My #1 with this style is you have to pair them with heels. I feel like that is the only way to get have a super feminine edge. There is nothing more girly than a fab leopard print, so I went with my fave Louboutin calf hair pumps.

My #2 with these baggy friends is that you need to wear them with a soft top. I went with a simple, but frilly, off the shoulder top. This one, from Show Me Your Mumu, is perfect with the uber girlish ruffle detailing. This style is no longer available, but similar styles here and here.

To keep it fun, I grabbed my studded out crossbody from Valentino. How about this mandarian orange color? I absolutely love mixing a fun bright color with leopard. It’s just so fun + chic.

To finish off this look I went with my all time (literally 6 years old) House of Harlow cuff. It’s super sturdy and has lived through so many fun nights out. I highly suggest scooping one up as it really goes with everything. (Who would ever think Nicole Richie’s jewelry line would be so fab by the way?)

All in all, I support this newer skinnier version of the boyfriend jean. Not something I will be wearing on the daily (waaay too many cute dresses and rompers for that!), but I do think it’s a fun look to mix in your rotation.

Lace: Fresh Feminine Charm

Currently Caro-133

I am all about the return of feminine charm lately in fashion. I love that I am seeing elegant details mixed with fun modern touches. Lace is one of the big trends for Spring ’16 and it is the epitome of ladylike. I love lace detailing in all colors, but my ultimate is definitely a crisp, clean white. One of my favorite designers for this trend is Self Portrait. Han Chong, the genius behind the label, has succeeded in mixing delicate intricacy with edgy street style.

I couldn’t say no to this guipure lace peplum dress. The scalloped embroidery, the stand collar and the edgy feel all make this creation a piece of art. Mix all that with the sheer bodice and it’s just perfection.

Currently Caro-144

I kept with the girly feel by adding my favorite bright pink Manolo Blahnik heels (have you noticed I love this simple, classic style?) and my pale pink Celine crossbody. I am so excited that pastels are huge for Spring, as this bag is forever one of my favorite pieces. Simple accessories are a must when you are wearing a super detailed piece.

Currently Caro-135

A bright lip is always a must in my book. It instantly gives you life! I am obsessed with this long wear Stila version in “fiore”. It stays on forever and is the best pink.

Is there really anything better than the feeling of wearing gorgeous dress? I am firm believer that your clothes shape your mood and attitude and this ensemble definitely made me feel beyond feminine and fab.

Currently Caro-23One of the trends I fell in love with from Fall ’15 that I am still seeing everywhere is festive folk. I love all the playful and nostalgic prints of this trend. And it totally incorporates embroidery, which I obviously adore.

Currently Caro-9

This rad drop waist (eternally favorite style) dress from Ulla Johnson (one of my top end all be all designers) will be a constant in my Spring and Summer rotation. The detailing is gorgeous, the fit is easy breezy and I love the boho feel.

Currently Caro-15

To bring this look more into Spring ’16, I added my black gladiator style Steve Madden sandals. If you want to try this wrap around look, these are a fab fab option. Comfy and well-priced. I know this trend will pass, but right now I am loving it and think it will continue through the Summer. It’s just a boho chic way to dress up your daytime look. Before heading out, I grabbed my newest favorite sunnies from Quay. I love that they are a futuristic cat eye..just so fun!

My Gucci crossbody was the perfect match with it’s tassles and embossed detailing. I can’t stop this bag. It’s big enough to carry your necessities, but small enough to take out at night. Win win. To finish off this look, I added two rings: one stacked one from Melinda Maria and one oversized one from House of Harlow 1960.

Polka Dots, Pockets and Everything Valentine’s Day

Currently Caro-34

I can’t believe Valentine’s day already coming up this weekend! Time is has been flying by lately, right? I know most people can’t stand this gushy holiday, but I totally love it. It’s just another reason to remind your loves ones that you appreciate and care for them. And really, to me, it’s just another reason to buy a cute new outfit!

Currently Caro-54

When I saw this romper on revolveclothing.com I had to have it. Long sleeves, polka dots and pockets? Yes, please. Nothing beats a look that is cute, flirty and fun, but also comfy.

Currently Caro-53

Since the romper has alot going on I kept my accessories pretty simple. I love mixing reds and pinks, so I threw on my all time fave Valentino crossbody. It’s the perfect size for a night out! For shoes I wanted to pull off the studs on my bag, so I went with my go-to silver Manolo Blahnik “chaos” heels. I have these in a few colors because they are super comfortable (honestly!) and such a great option when you need an uncomplicated choice.

Currently Caro-66

No look is complete without a fun ring, so I threw on this fab Melinda Maria one. I love how it looks like a bunch of little rings, but is really only one. Before heading out, I grabbed my tortoise rimmed silver mirrored Illesteva sunnies (I told you I have an obsession with these) and was good to go.

Currently Caro-45

I can’t wait to wear this look and celebrate another fab year of love and laughs with my husband on Saturday at our current favorite Mexican spot, South of Nick’s. I die over their shrimp done in a spicy chipotle sauce. It is everything! (Their skinny margs and guacamole are pretty tasty too) If you live in OC and haven’t been, it’s a must try.

Every season I get totally hooked on one or two of the seasons biggest trends. For Spring ’16, one is definitely embroidery detailing. I have been seeing it everywhere from Valentino handbags to fun Isabel Marant Etoile belts. It’s totally boho chic (back to my forever trend) and such an easy trend to try. I fell in love this fab Derek Lam 10 Crosby version that I found at Intermix. I mean how insane is the embroidery work? I love how the fit is so simple, but so on point. Since it’s so loud, I paired it with a really basic black croptop turtleneck that I found on Asos (only $20!!).

I am not over the caged heel, so I am happy to see it’s still totally on trend for Spring. I mean it’s the perfect mix of total badass and feminine fashionista, right? When I found these Steve Madden heels that I am wearing, I couldn’t handle that they were not only super well priced but also comfy (seriously!) To top off the look, I grabbed one of my old (but favorite) Stella McCartney clutches. I love pieces like this one that honestly only get better with time (which to me totally validates the price…right?)

Currently Caro-84

One of my oldest accessories that I never tires is my Michele watch. I got it over 7 years ago and I still love it. I just love that I can switch out the band depending on what I am wearing and they always have fun new colors and styles. It’s like getting a new watch all the time!

I am ring fanatic, so I love that wearing mutiple rings is so on trend right now. This criss cross one I am wearing is wallet-friendly but so cute (no one needs to know the diamonds aren’t real, right?).

Currently Caro-91

No outfit is complete without some fun sunnies and I can’t get enough of Illesteva. I currently own 3 pairs and most definitely have my eye on some of their newer styles for Spring.  I just love an accessory with some personality!
